A POPULAR summer event is to return to Weymouth Bay from Monday, July 31.

That date will be the first of a series of summer firework displays taking place during the school summer holidays.

Two extra firework displays on August 7 and 21 are being put on this year and have been sponsored by Weymouth Bay and Littlesea holiday parks.

The free events will take place over five dates in July and August.

All the firework displays, organised by Weymouth Town Council, will take place at 9.30pm.

Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller said: “With the first display at the end of this month, we know these events will be a big draw to residents and people visiting Weymouth over the summer, boosting tourist numbers in the town.

“The firework events across Weymouth Bay always create a great atmosphere and it’s also great to have two extra dates on the 7th and 21st August, which are sponsored by Weymouth Bay and Littlesea who are part of Haven Holiday Park.”

Where possible, people are encouraged to leave their cars at home and walk or use public transport when getting to and from displays.
