The first non-alcoholic pub in Weymouth has set an opening date.

Dry Dock on St Thomas Street will open its doors to the public on Saturday, August 5 and 12 from 10am to 8pm for two open days with a plan to open fully after.

The open days will act as a soft launch for the alcohol-free venue, complete with a drink tasting, music, pool and darts, as well as an opportunity to meet the team.

Sam Watson, founder of Dry Dock, explained that as long as the two events are successful then they plan to officially open as normal following the second open day on August 12.

The events will allow visitors to understand what the project is all about and even take part in a quiz, competitions, and a raffle.

Mr Watson is ‘very excited,’ to be able to finally share Dry Dock with the public and joked that he is also ‘tired’ following the months of work and 12 hour shifts that him and a friend had been putting in to finally see the venue materialise and ready to open.

The venue will sell non-alcoholic beer, soft drinks as well as alcohol free alternatives to beer, wine and spirits, including mocktails, alongside a range of hot drinks.

Once the project is finally up and running, Mr Watson said he would like to ‘give the project back to the community,’ and offer the use of the space for any community groups who would like to use the space to also get in touch.
