CHICAGO

WEY VALLEY ACADEMY, WEYMOUTH

A MUSICAL show that keeps both the audience and the performers on their toes all evening long – this is a razzle dazzle performance in a high school edition of a challenging work that the young students make their own.

With more than 20 song and dance numbers including All that Jazz and Cellophane, the busy cast change costumes, roles and style throughout a colourful evening under the direction of Mark Chutter while Julie Ashmore keeps up the pace with her imaginative choreography.

Nancy Robinson and Charlotte Trott are a great double act in the leading roles of Roxie and Velma, two girls aiming to succeed in a boys’ world of the 1920s.

This school production having only one male actor, it gives the females a distinct advantage which the 12 strong schoolgirl cast make the most of as they sing and dance the night away.

The school has not staged any shows for the public to enjoy for more than 13 years so it is greatly to the staff members credit that they have taken on such a production and one can only hope that this is just the beginning of a new era for both the students and their families in the audience.

There is a second performance tonight, Thursday July 6, and a full house is anticipated for a school whose staff and pupils have put a lot of time and effort into creating a show to be proud of.
