A FORMER British showjumper has switched career paths to join the family HGV business.
Kaitlyn Wrann recently passed her HGV (heavy goods vehicle) driving test at the age of 19.
Although Kaitlyn has now joined her dad's business, D & L Haulage, she has spent most of her life showjumping competitively.
Kaitlyn began horse-riding at six years old, before entering competitions at 13, after she had saved up enough money to get her own horse.
However, after her horse died and Kaitlyn turned 18, the required age to start her training, she decided to join her dad in the HGV trade.
“It was always a bit of a joke that dad said he was going to put me through my HGV training and then he actually did book me in for it one day,” she said.
For now, Kaitlyn works in both the office and assists in transport when needed, but her goal is to follow in her dad’s footsteps and set up her own business.
“Eventually I want to set up my own business in horse transport.
“I’ve got a little three and a half lorry at the moment for my own use, but I think I am going to eventually venture off to do my own thing in that way.”
