A MOBILE hairdresser has amassed an impressive £6,673.23 through her London Marathon fundraising efforts.
Charlie Spencer, 59, of Maiden Newton, raised the funds for the Huntington’s Disease Association by completing her 11th marathon, the London Marathon 2023.
She smashed her original target of £2,500.
As part of her fundraising Charlie held a quiz night at the Chalk and Cheese pub in her village.
The Huntington’s Disease Association is a charity very close to the heart of Charlie’s daughter, whose best friend has recently discovered that she is carrying the gene for Huntington’s, following many years of her mother struggling with the disease.
Charlie said: "I’m delighted to share the amount raised for the Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA) was a staggering £6,673.23.
"Whilst the circumstance of raising this money comes with such sadness the support to help towards raising awareness of the HDA will help tremendously.
"A million thank yous for everyone’s amazing support and sponsorship."
