The Eurovision Song Contest is rapidly approaching and there is an opportunity for people to come together to watch the spectacle whilst raising cash for a good cause.

The 'Eurovision at the Pavilion' live screening will be held at the Weymouth Pavilion on Saturday, May 13 and will raise money for Ukrainian refugees living in the UK.

Attendees are invited to come with a group, dress up in their favourite national costume, and sing along - have a great night out and do immense good at the same time.

Ordinarily, this year’s Eurovision Song Contest would have been held in Ukraine as its entry won last year, but because of the ongoing war, it will instead be hosted in Liverpool.

A spokesperson said: "As this year’s Eurovision should have been held in Ukraine, hosting ‘Eurovision at the Pavilion’ is an ideal opportunity to raise funds to create a 'Support Hub' to help South Dorset Ukrainian War Refugee Families."

The evening will be hosted by Weymouth's 'Rocket Man' Ed Hintze and Weymouth Town Council Chief Executive Jane Biscombe - a known Eurovision fanatic. The whole event will be on the giant screen in the Ocean Room and start at 8pm. You can sing along and join in the fun, and the bar will be open.

Money raised will go towards setting up a 'Support Hub' to aid Ukrainian refugees in finding housing, gaining employment, learning English, administration tasks, starting up businesses and more.

The spokesperson added: "Please help us, help the Ukrainians and, thereby in turn, help our local community."

"Please do consider becoming involved in all this. We are expecting a big turnout, a great evening, and helping wonderful people in real need. Contact Andy Dukes at andybraces@aol.com"
