A two-day festival at Weymouth Harbour is on the look out for volunteers to help make this summer's event another success.

The Wessex Folk Festival is set to make its return to the seaside town over the weekend of Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4 at Weymouth Harbour.

It will see some of the country's top folk acts join local names at the traditional event which normally attracts big crowds.

Live music will be played on two stages and morris dancing and street traders will pop up along the south side of Weymouth harbour.

Merry Hell, Trials of Cato, Reg Meuross and Gaz Brookfield are among the musicians appearing, and the event is free of charge.

Volunteers are needed to carry out a range of tasks, including stewarding and selling programmes.

Sharon Scurlock, volunteer co-ordinator, said: “Volunteers are critical to what we’re looking to do in so many different roles, to keep everyone safe and to help the festival run smoothly.

"We’re looking for people to assist and direct visitors around the site, collect donations to help assure the future of the festival, sell programmes and other merchandise, like badges, and just generally help out wherever they’re needed.”

Anyone who can spare a few hours over the weekend should email volunteer@wessexfolkfestival.com or complete a form on the festival’s website at www.wessexfolkfestival.com/volunteers/
