A body found in a river is believed to be that of a missing teenager from the Dorchester area, police have said.
As reported, police received a report regarding the discovery at the River Frome in the area of Lubbecke Way, Dorchester, at around 3pm yesterday, (Saturday).
Although formal identification has not yet taken place, Dorset Police has said it is believed to be 18-year-old Alex Bendall, who was reported missing on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been notified.
There was a major emergency services presence around Lubbecke Way yesterday afternoon, with eyewitnesses describing around six police cars and an ambulance at the scene.
They noticed 'lots of police' in the area from around 3pm before an ambulance arrived and the cordon was put in place at around 5pm.
Specialist search officers were seen scouring the water and a tent was erected along the riverside.
