A MAJOR A-road connecting Dorset and Hampshire will be closed overnight for nearly a week.

The A35 Lyndhurst Road, between Ringwood Road west of Esso Filling Station, and Verno Lane will be closed overnight starting from Tuesday, May 2.

Workmen will be resurfacing the road over the course of six nights and disruption could be caused as the road will be closed to through traffic from 8pm each night until 6am the following mornings.

A spokesman for Hampshire County Council said: “There may be times when the works need to be postponed works at very short notice; based on the latest weather forecasts.

“Any significant changes to the scheduled work dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.”

The road will be open outside of these hours.

A diversion will be in place during the closed hours via the A337 and Ringwood.
