THE world's biggest monster truck will be crushing its way into Dorset for the return of a popular annual show this year.

The Dorset County Show will run from Saturday, September 2 to Sunday, September 3 at Dorchester Showground.

It is expected to welcome 60,000 visitors through its gates and receive more then 8,000 entries ranging from the largest vegetable to a prize cow.

Big Pete is the world’s only real monster truck and at 16ft tall,12ft wide and 7.5 tonnes, is able to crush anything in its path.

Show visitors will be able to watch the truck jump 15 feet in the air alongside its partner in crushing crime – The Grim Reaper.

A little lighter at 4.5 tonnes but still a heavyweight show-off, the modern-styled monster truck boasts a hint of 'showbiz sparkle' in its bodywork.

Nicki Ralph, chair of the show, which is organised by Dorchester Agricultural Society, said: “We cannot wait to welcome Big Pete and The Grim Reaper to the County Show.

"This exciting, adrenaline-filled display will certainly leave a lasting impression on all our visitors, no matter their age”.

Alongside monster trucks crushing cars, The Dorset County Show has announced an 'exciting refresh' to its annual event.

This includes a new layout to explore and a host of new attractions including Dorset Axemen where you can see thrilling axe-cutting battles in action as teams race against the clock.

The show is also looking to focus on Dorset produced food and drink and become a platform for craftspeople to showcase their work.

James Cox, organiser of the show, added: “The show, like us all has gone through a lot in recent years and therefore now is the right time to review ideas and plans for the future.

"This year, our adaptions truly ensure we showcase agriculture, countryside, rural life and the incredible food, drink and crafts produced within it.

"The County Show will put the consumer in contact with the producer while celebrating everything rural Dorset has to offer”.

Organisers say there is 'plenty more to announce' over the coming months as they gear up for the show's return.

Adult tickets are on sale now until June 1 for £17, and children go free. Book via the Dorset County Show website at www.dorsetcountyshow.co.uk
