A MAN reportedly got out of his car on a busy Weymouth road and caused damage to another driver's vehicle in a road rage incident.

Dorset Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward following the incident on Wednesday, April 12 at about 1.35pm on Swannery Bridge.

It is reported that one of the two vehicles involved in the altercation – a black Hyundai ix35 – pulled out in front of another vehicle on the B3155. 

The driver of the Hyundai later allegedly got out of his vehicle and caused damage to the victim’s car.

Following enquiries, a 43-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, criminal damage and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue, Dorset Police has confirmed. 

Police Constable Jamie Ralphs, of Weymouth police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened, or the manner of the driving of the Hyundai, to please get in touch.

“Also, I would like to hear from any motorists who will have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
