A man had his car seized after driving away from Weymouth Magistrates Court - where he had just been banned from driving for speeding.
Just hours earlier on his way to court, the man was pulled over by police in King Street, Weymouth for driving whilst on a mobile phone.
Police officers said they stopped a man in Weymouth who was on a mobile phone while trying to get to court to attend 'for a speeding matter'.
Dorset Police officers spotted the man on a phone whilst driving on King Street in Weymouth this afternoon.
He was stopped and spoken to about the offence and his explanation was that he was lost trying to get to Weymouth Magistrates Court for a speeding matter, officers said.
The man was issued a traffic offence report for driving whilst on a mobile phone and given directions to the court.
He was later disqualified from driving by magistrates but decided to ignore this, police say, and left the court and drove off in his car.
He was stopped by officers leaving Weymouth, his vehicle has been seized and he has been reported for disqualified driving.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: "He will need to attend a further court appearance in the future for this matter, let's hope he catches the train next time."
