A FUNDRAISER for the family affected by a horror crash which killed a gran and seriously injured a mother in west Dorset has now raised more than £30,000.
Nicole Bowden, 48, was killed after being struck by a car whilst walking with several family members in Main Road, Mosterton, on February 8.
Emily Fox-Williams, aged in her 20s, was taken to hospital in a critical condition, while a third individual sustained serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and was later released from hospital.
Dorset Police confirned today that it had 'no further update' on Ms Fox-Williams' condition at this time.
An inquest into Mrs Bowden's death was opened and adjourned at a short hearing on February 17, where it was heard that she passed away at Southmead Hospital in Bristol the day after the crash, on February 9, after being flown there by air ambulance.
A pathologist ruled the cause of death as injuries to Mrs Bowden’s leg and trunk and the inquest was adjourned for a pre-inquest review to be heard on September 9, 2023 at 11am.
Shane Bovey, 40, whose address was given as Monmouth Road in Yeovil, has been charged in connection with the crash and appeared before Poole Magistrates’ Court in February.
He will next appear at Bournemouth Crown Court this week, on Thursday, March 16, where he is expected to enter pleas.
Bovey has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, causing death by driving a vehicle while uninsured, causing death by driving a vehicle while unlicensed, aggravated vehicle taking, and making threats to kill.
His lawyer previously said he would be denying all of the charges against him.
The victims' fundraiser was set up by local residents Nathan Snell and Amber Gundry with the aim of giving the family 'time to grieve and relieve stress'.
It hit the £20,000 mark in February and has now surpassed £30,000 with the help of 1,200 donors, some giving up to £1,000 anonymously.
Mr Snell and Ms Gundry say they 'keep praying for a miracle' with regards to Ms Fox-Williams' condition and say the money will go towards making the family's life 'as comfortable as possible'.
Police closed the main A3066 road through Mosterton for several hours as emergency teams dealt with the scene last month.
Villagers described how the community was left in 'shock' after the crash, with a poignant church service held a few days after which welcomed about 180 people to pay their respects.
Flowers and written tributes to the victims remain at the scene in west Dorset.
