Weymouth Town Council is debating the issue of funfairs after a swathe of bookings were axed in a surprise decision by its services committee.
It comes after irate hoteliers and the manager of Weymouth Pavilion raised grievances over shrieking and anti-social behaviour during fairground nights.
A series of council meetings were held, as options were considered in an attempt to keep everyone happy, amid huge public support for the fairs.
Ultimately a majority decision by members of the town council's services committee saw this year's proposed Pavilion forecourt dates being cancelled, except for the Easter holidays. Rides at the Jubilee Clock will still go ahead.
A motion to call-in the decision has been proposed by councillors unhappy with the result, with a range of alternative recommendations now being considered.
You can watch the drama unfold via the live video feed tonight, which is being broadcast by the town council.
Although there are currently some issues with the council's video feed, it is possible to listen in.
