Family brewers Hall & Woodhouse (H&W) raised more £600,000 for charities and local causes in 2022 through a mix of fundraising events, challenges and direct giving from the business.

One of the events the Blandford brewery got involved with saw them become the headline sponsor of the three-day family-friendly festival, Teddy Rocks, providing the vital funds needed to run the event. Team members also volunteered their time for free to run the bars over the festival weekend, and all profits were donated to the children’s cancer charity, Teddy20.

Anthony Woodhouse, Chairman of Hall & Woodhouse, said: “Giving back to the community and using our own resources to directly enrich the areas where our pubs are located, is at the centre of Hall & Woodhouse’s ambitions as a company. We are so proud and grateful to all our team members, without them coming together and working as one, none of this would have been possible.

“Continuing to support causes like the Ukraine crisis and the NHS and our invaluable emergency services through our direct giving, is a huge part of our company purpose, as well as raising funds for our local charitable organisations.

"The past year’s achievement has given us confidence in our aims to raise £1000,000 of vital funds each year for good causes by 2027.”

Additionally, team member Jon Mead, raised more than £1,000 last summer for Dorset Mind and Sport in Mind, when he embarked upon the first leg of his ‘Dorset Double Challenge’. Jon cycled to all 51 of H&W’s Dorset pubs in one day, covering a total of 343km.

The H&W Dorset Beer Festival, held at the Brewery in June 2022, donated all its proceeds to Dorset Mind, raising more than £13,000.

Increasing the total donations, in March, the brewery donated half a day’s profits from its pubs, which totalled more than £60,000, to support the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

More recently, H&W’s long established, annual Community Chest Awards provided £50,000 of grants to more than 35 charities in the south.

To date, the Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest has donated more than £760,000 to more than 850 causes across the south of England.
