He said: “A cold front will push southwards on Tuesday morning and bring an area of mostly rain at first.
“On the back edge of the cold front temperatures and dew points are expected to drop to a level that will become snow conductive for some.
“During the latter morning, precipitation is likely to turn increasingly wintry and many in the yellow shaded area will see some falling snow.”
However, places such as Bournemouth, Swanage, Weymouth, Dorchester and Bridport are set to miss out on snow.
He added: “It is expected to be drier across the west, whilst coastal areas will mostly see a mixture of sleet and rain.”
On the following day, a yellow Met Office warning is in place on Wednesday, March 8 from 12am until 11.59pm.
