NEW volunteers are being sought to help a vital charity saving lives at sea in Dorset.
The RNLI is calling on dedicated people to help the charity do 'extraordinary things' out on the oceans.
The charity's fundraising team needs a team of volunteer crew and is looking for those willing to give a little or a lot of their time to assist.
Chris Copeland, branch chair of Sherborne RNLI, said: "I get tremendous satisfaction from knowing that my RNLI branch in Sherborne has raised funds that are helping to save lives at sea.
"I’ve made new friends. I have a small committee – we all get on well. It’s just a great little community."
Volunteers do not need any previous fundraising experience and 'plenty of help' is at hand, the RNLI says.
Dave Nicoll, RNLI fundraising partnership lead, added: "Without our volunteers, the RNLI simply would not be able to operate the way it does today.
"With 92 per cent of the RNLI’s income coming from donations, the charity relies on the generosity of supporters and on the dedication of our fundraising volunteers to help raise essential funds."
"We now really need to bolster that support and grow our volunteer fundraising crew."
