Two coastguard teams were called out after concerns were raised for a woman’s welfare last night in Weymouth.
Concern for the woman’s welfare was raised to the police at 11.13pm, and at 11.23pm coastguards from Portland Bill and Wyke were called to assist.
The woman was found in the town centre at around 11.35pm and was taken to a ‘place of safety’ by police.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 11.13pm on Tuesday 28 February 2023 raising concern for the welfare of a woman in the area of Weymouth Harbour.
“Officers attended and the woman was located in the town centre at around 11.35pm. She was given appropriate care.”
A spokesperson for Wyke Coastguard said: “Along with Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team we were tasked at 11.23pm to assist Weymouth & Portland Police with an incident on Weymouth seafront.
“As teams arrived on scene police took the casualty to a place of safety.”
A spokesperson from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "HM Coastguard and Dorset Police responded to an incident in Weymouth last night, February 28.
"Just after 11.15pm Coastguard Rescue Teams from Portland Bill and Wyke were sent to assist."
