ELEVEN trees have been donated to schools across Weymouth to honour the Coronation of King Charles III.
Mayor of Weymouth Cllr Ann Weaving, Parks and Open Spaces Manager Tara Williams and Senior Arborist David Parry from Weymouth Town Council donated the crab apple trees to several schools across the area.
The donation of trees included a rabbit guard as well as a stake and watering system.
In six months, the schools will also receive a plaque to recognise the growth of the tree.
Mayor Cllr Ann Weaving said: "I was delighted to present the crab apple trees which have been planted ahead of the King’s Coronation. What a wonderful idea!
"These trees will grow with the children, and future generations to come, so I was delighted to be involved in this project which Weymouth Town Council organised."
The schools that received a tree include:
- Bincombe Valley
- Westfield Arts College
- St Andrews
- St Johns
- Wey Valley
- Radipole
- Southill
- St Augustine’s (TBC)
- Holy Trinity
- Wyke Regis Infant and Juniors (one per school)
Sean Kretz from Westfield Arts College added: “This is a lovely way to mark this moment in history and something that pupils, staff and our school community can enjoy for many years to come.”
