Collectors will be shaking their tins in the Weymouth and Dorchester area to raise money for the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal over the next month.

The first collection will be at Morrisons in Weymouth starting on Saturday, March 4 and lasting until Sunday, March 12.

Collectors will also be at Tesco in Dorchester on Saturday, March 4 for the day and there will be a street collection in Dorchester town centre on Saturday, March 25.

Members of the Dorchester and Weymouth fundraising group have placed daffodil boxes in shops, pubs and filling stations around the area.

Richard Crosby, secretary of the Dorchester and Weymouth Fundraising Group, said: "There has always been excellent support for this appeal locally, especially as the money raised is specifically used for the Marie Curie nurses who work in Dorset."

Volunteers are now being sought to help with the collections.
