ONE of the region’s most popular running events returns to the coastline of Dorset this weekend.
The Weymouth Bay 10k is all geared up to return on Sunday (10am) with several hundred entries expected.
For race organisers MCC Promotions, this is a landmark event with it being the 250th held over this distance by the company.
The course, offering panoramic views of Weymouth, begins with 122m plus two laps at Bowleaze Green before descending to the Esplanade, along to Weymouth Pavilion and doubling back to Overcombe.
Last year, Elliott Avis won in a time of 36 minutes flat with Georgina Povall of Dorset club Egdon Heath finishing as the quickest woman in 42:16.

Course records are held by Bridport Runners’ Ben Renshaw (33:58) and Lymington’s Sophie Bubb (40:30).
Entry is £15 with on-the-day registration and bag drop at the Riviera Hotel. Free parking is also available.
