A MOTORCYCLIST has been hospitalised this afternoon following a rush hour crash which shut a busy route through Dorset. 

A crash on the A35 Commercial Road, through Ashley Cross, involving a motorcyclist and a car was reported shortly before 4pm on Friday, February 24. 

The motorcyclist was rushed to Poole Hospital following the crash. It is unclear what injuries the motorcyclist sustained and what condition he is in. 

Police temporarily closed the road both ways where the accident happened, between The Sloop Pub and Britannia Road, to deal with the incident. 

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 15.43hrs to a road traffic collision in the Parkstone area.  

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and conveyed one patient to Poole Hospital.” 

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said the force received a report of a crash at 3.49pm on Friday, February 24 in Commercial Road, Poole. 

She added it involved a motorcycle and a car and a road closure was put in place and removed at 4.32pm. 

She said: “Ambulance service attended, but no information about whether any injuries.” 

Morebus had to divert its M1 and M2 bus routes due to the crash.
