AN AFTERNOON of celebration to mark the King's coronation will take place near Weymouth seafront this spring.
The event has been organised by The Friends of Greenhill Gardens and will take place at Greenhill Tennis Courts on The Esplanade.
About 400 people are expected to join in with the coronation celebration on Sunday, May 7 from 3pm to 6pm.
Three hours of live entertainment will be provided by The 4 Saxes, a music group which has performed all over Dorset.
Weymouth's very own five-person band, The Originals, will also be performing hits from the 1960s, 70s and 80s to entertain guests.
Buckingham Palace has announced that ceremonial and celebratory events will take place over the coronation weekend between Saturday, May 6 and Monday, May 8.
The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey in London on the Saturday.
Hundreds of events are set to take place across Dorset and the country to mark the historic occassion following the death of the Queen on September 8, aged 96.
