Roadworks in Weymouth that have been in place since early January are set to be around for a little while longer.

Watery Lane in Upwey, Weymouth, has been temporarily closed since Tuesday, January 3 to allow Wessex Water safe access to replace a water main on the route.

Around 510 metres of the road have been closed from the junction to Stottingway Street to the junction at the access road to Wey Valley Farm.

The works were originally forecast to have finished by the end of Friday, February 24, however, Wessex Water has now revealed that minor technical delays have forced the road to be closed for a short while longer.

A Wessex Water spokespman said: “Due to some minor technical delays we are having to extend the completion date of our work, and therefore the road closure, by a few days to the end of Monday 27 February.

"We apologise for any further inconvenience caused and thank residents and motorists for their co-operation.” They added.
