A DRINK driver who failed to stop at the scene of a collision has been banned from the roads.
Shaun Punshon, whose address was given as Woolcombe Road on Portland, appeared before Weymouth Magistrates Court on Thursday, February 16 for sentencing.
Punshon, 39, pleaded guilty to two charges: driving a motor vehicle whilst over the legal limit, and being driver of a vehicle failing to stop after a road accident.
The charges relate to an incident on December 23, in 2021, when Punshon was driving a Nissan Qashqai on Abbotsbury Hill and crashed into a white Nissan Note. Punshon then drove away from the scene of the incident.
After completing a breath test, Punshon was found to have 72 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath: twice the legal limit.
As a result he has been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for a period of 20 months.
Additionally, Punshon must complete 150 hours of unpaid work within a 12 month period, pay a fine of £623, costs of £620 and a surcharge of £62 to fund victim services.
