A NEW defibrillator has been installed outside a Dorset hall - the second life-saving device to be located in the village.

Maiden Newton's Community Land Trust has procured and installed the defibrillator, which can be found at the entrance to the hall

A number of signs are being installed as part of a campaign to provide awareness of the device, which has been leased from the Dorset Ambulance Service.

It will be regularly serviced and checked and will add to the other devices located at the petrol station and Spar at the opposite end of the village.

Defibrillators send an electric pulse or shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat in the event of an emergency.

Chairman of the Land Trust, David Charman, said: "Our directors are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to fund and install this life saving device for the local community.

"We would like to express our thanks to Dorset Ambulance Service, Maiden Newton Village Hall Committee who have provided location support, and Graham Paget, local resident and first responder, for providing training”.
