A pile of logs stacked next to a fireplace caught fire, prompting a late night call out for firefighters.
The occupant of the home in Morcombelake, west Dorset, raised the alarm when he saw smoke coming from around his fireplace after it had been put out.
Firefighters from Charmouth and Bridport were called to the address at around 11.15pm on Friday night.
After investigating, it was discovered that the log pile next to the fire had started to combust.
The logs were removed from the property to extinguish the fire.
A fire service spokesman said: "Always be aware of radiated heat when having a fire and ensure that flammable items are kept at a safe distance."
