A 'wall of kindness' has been created outside a Dorset hospital for people to leave what they don’t need and 'take what they do'.
The area has been opened up on the site hoardings at South Walks House outside Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.
It was created by the hospital's construction partner, Tilbury Douglas, which is converting two of the floors into clinical space.
The wall runs on a ‘leave what you don’t need, take what you do’ basis, with typical items including clean clothes, shoes, non-perishable foods, toiletries, childrens' books and toys.
It will be open during site opening times in the week and locked up overnight and over the weekend.
Tilbury Douglas is converting two floors of South Walks House into clinical space and are also the lead construction partner for a proposed new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit at the Dorchester site.
Outline plans have been approved by the council to develop the building in Williams Avenue.
It forms part of a refurbishment programme to expand the facilities at the site to ensure it is fit for purpose and can serve more patients.
Dorset County Hospital said the company is reaching out to various groups, organisations and charities and will be supporting more projects in the future.
