A climber was airlifted to safety in a three-hour rescue operation after suffering a shoulder injury.
Two coastguard rescue teams and both Swanage RNLI Lifeboats were called to Anvil Point just after 2.40 pm on Wednesday, February 15.
The climber had dislocated his shoulder at Marmolata Buttress near Anvil Point.
Lifeboat crews managed to get ashore despite rough conditions and provided first aid to the climber.
Due to conditions, it was deemed not safe to take the climber off the base of the cliffs by boat and an extraction by the HM Coastguard cliff technician also was not deemed viable due to loose rock and an overhang.
The recovery was made by the coastguard helicopter, which was able to lower a winchman to a nearby boulder and lift the casualty to the cliff top.
Rescue 175 from Lee on Solent airlifted the climber back to the top of the cliff to waiting ambulance crews.
After an assessment, the climber was released to make their own way to the hospital.
Lifeboats, coastguard teams and the helicopter were able to leave just after 6pm after a three-hour-long rescue.
A spokesperson for Swanage lifeboat station called it "a complicated multi-agency rescue with a positive outcome."
A video from Swanage lifeboat station shows crews in the difficult conditions in the sea beneath the cliff on Wednesday.
