A TEEN who was stopped by police at the wheel of a car whilst more than 18 times over the drug driving limit has been disqualified from driving.
Harry Dean Hamilton, whose address was given as Briantspuddle near Bere Regis, appeared before Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 10, where he was charged with three counts of driving a motor vehicle whilst over the legal limit for a controlled substance.
It relates to an incident on September 11 of last year when Hamilton was caught driving on Weymouth Road in Dorchester whilst under the influence of cannabis, benzoylecgonine and MDMA.
Hamilton was found to have had more than 18 times the legal limit of MDMA in his blood - at a level of 187 microgrammes per litre of blood: the legal limit being 10mg/l.
Benzoylecgonine, a major metabolite of cocaine, was also found in Hamilton’s blood at a level over 12 times the legal limit: 629mg/l, with the legal limit being 50mg/l.
Hamilton pleaded guilty to the three offences and was ordered to pay a fine of £128, costs of £85 and a surcharge of £40 to fund victim services.
The 18-year-old has also been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for a period of 18 months.
