Firefighters were called to a property fire on Buxton Road in Weymouth at 12.53 pm today.
The fire started after "hot works" were being carried out at the property.
A statement from Weymouth Fire Station said: "Two crews attended reports of smoke coming from a flat roof at a property on Buxton Road.
"The fire had started as a result of sparks from hot works being carried out and further investigation showed that an area was smouldering within the cladding of a bay window on the first floor.
"This was extinguished using a hose reel jet."
