A small group of Weymouth-based Ukrainian refugees will be cooking and serving a range of delicious free traditional Ukrainian dishes at St Mary’s Church in St Mary’s Street, Weymouth and are inviting everyone to come and try it for themselves.
The dishes will all be handmade, using authentic Ukrainian recipes and natural ingredients.
The food is free, but donations will be gratefully received. It will be taking place between 11am and 3.30pm on Saturday, February 11 and Saturday, February 18.
Those on the cooking team hope that members of the South Dorset Ukrainian community will support their venture, but would be overjoyed if other Weymouth, Portland and Dorset residents came and showed their support for Ukraine and for the hard work and skills of the cooks.
These culinary events are preliminary trials to see how people respond. If these catering events prove successful, the Ukrainian women are looking to develop a local business by developing a Weymouth-based Ukrainian food outlet.
The Ukrainian team of cooks wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Neil Biles, Town Centre Chaplain, and to St Mary’s Church for their kind support in this venture.
