ANOTHER tree to commemorate the late Queen Elizabeth II is to be planted in Weymouth this weekend.
The oak tree will be planted off Louviers Road in Weymouth by Mayor Clr Ann Weaving.
Speaking ahead of the event the Mayor said: "It’s lovely to have been invited to another tree-planting event to commemorate the late Queen Elizabeth II.
“It’s also great to be joined by local communities who are planting trees which will help with climate change.”
It comes just weeks after an alder tree was planted by Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset Angus Campbell at Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth.
The ceremony is part of the Queen's Green Canopy project initiative, which aims to create a living legacy for Her Majesty the Queen by planting trees.
The project will come to an end in March 2023.
This weekend's ceremony will be held at 10.30 am on Saturday, February 11 at Louviers Park in Weymouth.
Before the tree planting event, there will be an opportunity for volunteers to plant their own trees from 10am.
Those interested in planting a tree should meet at Louviers Road, Littlemoor, by the water tower next to the skatepark car park.
