A group which helps adults with their reading is urgently seeking a volunteer co-ordinator.
The team at Ready Easy Read Easy South Dorset are dedicated to helping people who either cannot read at all or who find it difficult.
The charity offers one to-one-support to anyone over the age of 18 for as long as needed to master a skill that most people take from granted.
Learning to read can transform lives, from opening up job opportunities to being able to read instructions on everyday packaging - and everything in between.
Currently, 14 readers are being helped in Weymouth and five in Dorchester. Demand is increasing and a third co-ordinator is now needed.
Read Easy South Dorset has a team of trained coaches who work individually with people needing help, known as readers.
The reader’s first point of contact with Read Easy is through a co-ordinator, who will pair up a coach with a reader and then contact them occasionally to see how they are progressing and be available to offer support if needed.
Read Easy South Dorset covers Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester, but this co-ordinator will concentrate on Weymouth and would suit someone living locally.
Christine Voce, team leader, said: "Could you fit the bill? We need someone with a literacy background who has about eight hours a week to spare for this rewarding role. It is flexible but does have to fit in with when readers and coaches are available.
"We need someone who is very well organised and who can juggle demands.
"They will also have to be comfortable with meeting people from all walks of life."
She added: "Good problem-solving skills are an advantage. It's quite demanding, especially for a volunteer role. The upside is it's varied, satisfying and, if you enjoy meeting people, fun.
"The new co-ordinator will always have someone with experience to turn to for support if needed, and there will be a thorough induction programme."
Read Easy South Dorset is affiliated to the national Read Easy organisation and, although operating autonomously for the most part, follows national quality guidelines.
