PORTLAND Bill coastguard were called into action after a person had not been seen to have returned from a cliff edge in the area.
At around 6:20pm on Friday, February 3 the team were called to investigate a lookout report after a single person had been seen with a torch on the lower cliff paths near Sharpits Quarry, Portland.
The person had not been seen to have returned from the cliffs, hence why the coastguard team were called into action.
The team conducted thorough searches of the area, working north and south of the persons' last known position, however, no one was found in their search.
With no further information about the incident, and no reports of anyone believed to have been missing from the area the coastguard team were stood down and returned to the station.
If you experience an emergency at the coast dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
