AN 'AMAZING' new mobile climbing wall is set to be unveiled at Portland Marina.
The wall is owned and operated by on-site business Adventure 4 All and will be available to use on weekends throughout the spring and summer.
It is an expansion of the existing activities already available at the marina, which includes paddleboarding and kayaking.
Paul Swain from Portland Marina said: “We’re hugely excited to see Adventure 4 All expanding and bringing more activities to the marina for everyone to enjoy.
"We have a great relationship with their team and love seeing kids and adults alike enjoying the paddle sports they offer at the marina.
"It brings a great buzz and really adds to the fun atmosphere here. It’s brilliant to see a family-run local business thriving."
The climbing wall is able to have four climbs operating at once and uses a fall arrest system to ensure safety regardless of a climbers' ability.
The wall is being set up to accommodate climbers as young as four.
Due to the wall being mobile it will be easy to relocate and Adventure 4 All plans to offer it at local events throughout the year.
They are also looking for partners who may want to host the wall when it is not located at the marina.
Alex Sergison from Adventure 4 All added: “This is an amazing bit of kit. It will be great for tourists, but we really hope it will be well utilised by locals.
"We are going to be offering tasters and lessons but also climbing themed birthday parties.
"We also hope to develop an outreach programme with local schools. As the wall is fully mobile we can bring climbing onto school grounds and provide youngsters with a taste of the amazing sport in a totally controlled and safe environment.”
