A local hospital charity is calling people to come together for its annual Snowdrop Walk at Upton House and Country Park on Saturday, February 11.
The event organised by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity is in support of bereaved parents who have lost a baby during pregnancy or just after birth.
Beginning at 10.30 am people can write messages and tie them to a tree to remember babies who have been loved and lost.
There will also be readings and poems of remembrance.
The event is free for anyone to come along and will begin in the Drawing Room at Upton House and Country Park, Poole Road, Upton.
Refreshments will be available from Upton House after the walk.
SPRING (Supporting Parents and Relatives Through Baby Loss) is a support service for anyone who has been affected by pregnancy loss, no matter how long ago.
Based at St. Mary’s Maternity Unit at Poole Hospital, SPRING works closely with medical professionals to help provide care to bereaved families.
The Bereavement Suites at St. Mary’s Maternity Unit are partly funded by SPRING and provide space for parents and families to spend precious time with their baby before saying goodbye.
SPRING’s Fundraising Officer, Zoe Wood, said: “Remembering our babies is such an important part of what SPRING does. The snowdrops are beautiful and behind each one, knowing there is a loved baby to remember, makes this a walk like no other.”
