Dorset's motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A31, from 9pm January 21 to 6am February 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A31 both directions Roundhouse to Bere Regis, carriageway closure for roadmarkings, diversion via local authority network.

• A31, from 8pm January 9 to 6am February 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A31 both directions Lake Gates to Merley, carriageway closure for barrier upgrades, diversion route via local authority network.

And a further three closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A35, from 7.45am January 23 to 4pm January 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A35 Verriotts Lane Morcombelake - two-way traffic lights -drainage works (Dorset CC).

• A31, from 9pm January 30 to 6am April 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A31 westbound, Woolsbridge to Palmersford, carriageway closure for street lighting work, diversion via local authority network.

• A31, from 8pm February 6 to 6am February 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A31 Roundhouse Roundabout, Roundabout closures and temporary traffic signals for roadmarkings.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
