Photos show dolphins 'putting on a show' at Portland Harbour

The playful creatures are regularly spotted in Dorset waters by the Portland Gig Rowing Club.

On Friday, rowing club member Denis Conroy said the two dolphins were 'popping up all over the place' as he took his boat out to sea.

"We go out quite regularly and what usually happens is the dolphins are just outside the marina and follow us for a while," he explained.

"They just get attracted by the clicking of the oars, I think. Usually you see the backs of them but [on Friday] I don't know what got into them.

"They just put a show on and were popping up all over the place."

Dennis added: "It is fantastic, it is the closest you will ever get to a dolphin in the wild.

"These two seem to be here all of the time and it's lovely to see them. It was incredible."

The rower said he was also taken aback by the size of the dolphins, which are known for their intelligent and inquisitive nature.

Dennis added he has spotted seals during his time on the water near the isle of Portland.
