A MAN from Dorchester who was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter in relation to the death of a man in Verwood has been released under investigation.
Dorset Police and the Health and Safety Executive are working together to investigate the incident, which took place shortly before 9am on Tuesday, January 3.
Police received a report relating to an incident where a man sustained fatal injuries while a vehicle was being unloaded in Coopers Lane.
A man aged in his 30s died at the scene. His family has been informed and the coroner made aware.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended, along with the ambulance and fire services. Very sadly, a man aged in his 30s died at the scene. His family has been informed and the coroner made aware.
“A cordon was put in place to allow an investigation of the scene and this has now been lifted. A vehicle has been recovered for further examination.”
The spokesperson said a man aged in his 40s from the Dorchester area was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
“Our thoughts remain with the family of the man who sadly died, and they are being supported by dedicated liaison officers,” the spokesperson added.
