A SPRING ball held in Weymouth for adults with learning difficulties was hailed a success by organisers.
The Mind Alive ball at the Hotel Rembrandt, Dorchester Road, was attended by more than 150 people.
The event included a disco dancing competition which was judged by borough councillor Kate Wheller.
A spokesman for Mind Alive said: "The event was a great success.
"The judging of the disco competition is usually done by the town mayor, but due to his poor health, he had to give his apologies.
"Unfortunately, the deputy mayor was also unavailable but we were fortunate enough to have Coun Kate Wheller and her husband step in at the last moment to judge it.
"Everyone had a fantastic time."
Among the awards presented was the Lynne Herbert trophy, named after the borough councillor and former Mind Alive patron who passed away in February.
