DIAMOND wedding couple Peter and Betty Hollywood are well used to making the news - the couple met more than 60 years ago when they worked for the Dorchester Chronicle.
Mr Hollywood was a printer and Miss Betty Wheller was an office clerk.
They married at Holy Trinity Church in Dorchester 60 years ago today - June 5, 1948 - with a wedding cake thanks to friends and family who saved their post-war ration coupons for the occasion.
After their daughter Ruth was born they moved to Bridport, where Mr Hollywood joined the Bridport News, and where their son Keith was born. They later moved back to Dorchester where Mr Hollywood worked at Henry Ling's, the printers, until his retirement 20 years ago.
Mr Hollywood, 84, had served in the Royal Navy as a young man and took part in the Normandy landings.
The couple lived in Monmouth Road, Dorchester for 23 years and have lived at St George's Close in the town since 1980.
Mrs Hollywood, 81, worked as a doctors' receptionist for many years.
They have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild and the family plays a large part in their lives.
The couple also have a busy social life with friends and attending Normandy veteran reunions.
