SEVERAL car parks in Weymouth will be free today to encourage more people to visit the high street and support their local businesses.
Car parks near the town centre of Weymouth will be free throughout Wednesday, December 28 after the town council applied to Dorset Council to allow free parking in the car parks.
The car parks that will be free of charge are:
- The Pavilion
- Pavilion Forecourt
- Old Council Offices on North Quay
- Governors Lane
- Cosens Quay
- Harbourside
- Melcombe Regis
- Park Street
- Swannery
Cllr Ryan Hope, Chair of Services Committee, said: “It’s great to have another date for free car parking in Weymouth, providing an opportunity to do some shopping or take a winter stroll around the town before the New Year.
"We are grateful to Dorset Council for their continued support.
"This should encourage shoppers to come to Weymouth and support shops post-Christmas and boost economic activity.”
Charges will still apply at all other times, for any car parks not listed and at on-street parking locations.
