A CAST of more than 200 pupils representing all the schools on Portland took to the stage at Weymouth Pavilion to present Showtime.

From five to 15-year-olds, the pupils sang and played their way through the well-known hits from stage and screen including Sound of Music, Joseph, Oliver! and High School Musical.

Instrumental abilities were shown by the Underhill Drum Group, Royal Manor Arts College (RMAC) Wind Group and the college's recently formed KS3 Band with their two vocalists who took to the stage for their first performance of Blame It On The Boogie.

In the grand finale, the stage wasn't big enough to accommodate all the pupils and some had to stand on the floor of the auditorium to rock the Pavilion with their spirited rendition of We Will Rock You.

The schools had all been rehearsing independently and got together for the joint performances for the first time on the day of the show, which goes to prove that Portland has talent and dedicated teachers, staff, parents and carers to carry it through.

The show was well attended by enthusiastic parents and carers and, on behalf of Portland Schools Music Pyramid, all were thanked by RMAC head of music Martyn Mullender, who also expressed appreciation for the donation given by Departure Arts towards the production.
