A PROPERTY developer in Weymouth has given a four-figure Christmas donation to a food bank in the area.

DJ Property made the £1,000 donation to Weymouth Foodbank to support those in need over the Christmas period.

Many people are using local food banks amid the cost of living crisis as prices of food, electric and gas rise.

Mickey Jones of DJ Property said “DJ Property has chosen to donate to Weymouth Foodbank this year, during these uncertain times.

"It is important that community organisations and charities are supported by the local business community and we feel this is an appropriate way to help.

"The reason we chose Weymouth Foodbank as our charity this year, is that they provide an ever-growing service to the local community”.

Weymouth Foodbank, which is run entirely by volunteers, has various centres across the town including its 'hub' on Granby Industrial Estate, Littlemoor, Westham Methodist Church and Weymouth Baptist Church.

John-Paul Dervley, Chairman at Weymouth Foodbank said   “We are very grateful to DJ Property who are helping us continue our work. The donation will be put to good use to feed hungry people in Weymouth.

"In November 2022, we helped more than 1,000 individuals, providing in excess of 10,000 meals. We are having to buy food to supplement the food donations and donations like this allow us to have sufficient supplies to meet the need”.
