A RETIRED seamstress died two weeks after being involved in a major car crash on the A352, an inquest heard.

Dawn Robins, 80, was involved in a two-car collision on the A352 Winfrith Newburgh on Thursday, August 18 of this year.

Area coroner for Dorset, Brendan Allen, opened and adjourned the inquest into Ms Robins’ death at a short hearing at Dorset Coroner’s Court on Monday, December 12.

A medical cause of death was ruled as multiple injuries with the inquest adjourned until April 2023 in order for statements to be taken from interested parties.

Three people had to be taken to hospital following the crash near to the Red Lion pub in East Knighton - two were taken to Dorset County Hospital whilst Ms Robins was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.

Ms Robins, from Worth Matravers, passed away at the hospital on Sunday, September 4 - 17 days after being involved in the crash. A post-mortem ruled the cause of her death was consistent with being involved in a road traffic accident.

Dorset Police confirmed an investigation into the circumstances of Ms Robins’ death is ongoing.
