YOUNGSTERS at a Weymouth school extended their learning on the cost-of-living crisis to the community around them.
Members of Holy Trinity Primary School Council decided they wanted to help provide food regularly for The Weymouth Foodbank and were 'overwhelmed' with the generosity of donations from families at the school.
The School Council invited pupils to bring in a donation and ran a competition to see which class brought in the most donations.
Teacher Miss Hannah Daykin, who leads the School Council, was 'delighted' at the response to the School Council appeal.
She said: "During the School Council meeting discussions, the topic of how difficult it was financially for families at the moment was passionately brought up by the children and the School Council thought that this was a positive way that they could help others."
She added: "I am beyond proud of the School Council and their efforts at raising this eyewatering amount of donations, nearly 800 items have been donated!"
