A fashion show with a catwalk featuring models wearing recycled clothing will be raising money for a charity helping homeless people in Weymouth and Portland.
Taking place at the Belvedere Inn, High West Street, Weymouth, tonight, Thursday, December 1, the event will offer bargains for Christmas to help with the cost-of-living crisis.
It is being organised by business owner Char Walby, with doors opening at 7pm and a £2 entrance fee including entry into a raffle on the night. There is also set to be a disco at the event.
All monies raised will go to The Lantern Trust, an independent charity helping vulnerable and marginalised people in Weymouth and Portland since 1983.
“I came up with the idea because I know times are tough for people so I thought, what can I do to bring them together?” Char said.
“I have been like a busy bee around town at the moment putting posters everywhere.
“It is a win-win really; people coming to the event will get some bargains for Christmas, and all the proceeds will go to the Lantern Trust.”
Next weekend, on Saturday, December 10, a whole day of music will be taking place at The Belvedere for the Gimme Shelter Festival, which will also raise money for local homeless charities.
Two live music stages will entertain guests from 2pm to 2am, with an £8 entry fee required.
