AN ELDERLY man who went missing near his home has been found.
The 90-year-old, who has not been named by police, had disappeared from his home in Long Cross, near Shaftesbury.
Dorset Police asked for assistance from the Dorset and Wiltshire search and rescue teams to help locate the man.
The Dorset search dog unit picked up a scent while investigating a potential sighting in an area of woodland near Shaftesbury Road on the Dorset and Wiltshire border.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: "The man was disorientated.
"He had been walking for quite some time with his shoes bogged down in heavy clay.
"He slipped over and became unable to stand again but was warm considering the conditions."
The man was assessed and stretchered to the roadside before being taken to hospital for observation.
