SIR David Attenborough has been spotted filming at Weymouth Harbour.
The legendary broadcaster and environmentalist has been at Custom House Quay on the north side of the harbour, along with a film crew.
Eagle-eyed members of the public spotted him on the quayside on Thursday alongside local fishing boats, under the watchful gaze of a production team.
During his visit national treasure Sir David also took the time to greet Weymouth Community Safety Officers who were on patrol in the area, and described him as "an absolute legend."
They said that sadly there wasn’t time for long chats, but Sir David did make time to say hello.
Felicity Treweek, who owns Limelight Boutique in Weymouth town centre, was lucky enough to see Sir David.
She said: "My father-in-law was just having a stroll on the harbour as the weather is so lovely today and messaged saying, "I’m a few feet away from David Attenborough."
"I thought he was joking…. we quickly closed both shops and all the girls and I went down there, it’s a once in lifetime opportunity to see him in the flesh on a lovely sunny day in the glorious sunshine in Weymouth.
"Today was lovely on the harbour, too - Sir David went into Weyfish, I assume for lunch, so we came back and opened up the shop as our deliveries arrived."
Pupils from Portland schools Atlantic Academy and St George's Primary were invited to the Royal Geographical Society in London for a presentation hosted by Sir David Attenborough and Eden Project International visionary Sir Tim Smit.
As well as being famous for his BBC nature programmes, in recent times the natural historian and biologist has become increasingly vocal in support of environmental causes, including climate change and sustainability.
In June the 96-year-old broadcaster was awarded a Knight Grand Cross honour by fellow avid environmentalist, the then Prince of Wales.
He received the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George for services to television broadcasting and to conservation.
